Autobots
CONTAINS SPOILERS!

Bumblebee
Bumblebee takes place as the friend of the Autobots' human ally Sam "Spike" Witwicky. When the Decepticons target Sam for the map he possess that shows the location of the life-giving Allspark, Bumblebee is assigned to guard Sam and gets closer to him by posing as a used car which Sam then buys.

For the film, Bumblebee will be a 1970s Chevrolet Camaro, but will later be modified into the 2009 preproduction version of the car. Some leaked information indicates that he may not have a vocal role in the film, having had his vocal systems ripped out, and may communicate through his car radio.

Originally suggested a trashed 1969 Camaro, settled on a 1976 model. It is painted yellow with black stripes, primer and rust patches, riveted hood scoop, Crager SS wheels up front, Eric Vaughn Real Wheels in the back, marine-grade vinyl seats, and even an eight-track player. The 2008/09 model was built using a 2004 Pontiac GTO by Saleen, the body was built from the same GM R&D molds that were used in the prototype 08/09 Camaros.

Optimus Prime
Optimus Prime will be present as Autobot leader. Prime now transforms into a conventional Peterbilt cab. In a move that has proven rather controversial among some fans, Prime's vehicle mode is now decorated with red flames painted onto a blue body, apparently as a means of incorporating both his classic colors while retaining a realistic color layout to the truck mode.

Although heavily redesigned like the other characters in the film, some classic design elements remain in his robot mode, including a predominantly red torso, primarily blue legs, the presence of windows in his chest, smokestacks on his shoulders, and a head design influenced by the original, featuring the iconic faceplate and antennae. It has been suggested, however, that the faceplate may retract to expose a mouth when Prime speaks (in the style of Optimus Primal, or the Transformers: Cybertron incarnation of Prime).

It was publicly announced at San Diego ComicCon 06 that original Optimus Prime voice actor Peter Cullen will return to the role for the film. According to Transformers: The Movie Prequel comic book, Optimus Prime and Megatron co-ruled Cybertron. When Megatron began a war for control of the Allspark, Optimus sent it into the depths of outer space.

Jazz
When the movie producers unveiled the final rosters for all the Transformers appearing in the movie, Jazz was described as having a love of style, with a rock-'n-roll type of personality--not unlike his G1 persona. Jazz alternate mode will be a silver/grey customized hardtop Pontiac Solstice This has been confirmed by several leaked photos. He will be 13 feet tall. He has pronounced antennae on his head and eye visor, similar to his G1 incarnation. His visor is part of his battle mode. Jazz wields a sword and shield.

Ironhide
Ironhide will appear as a GMC TopKick C4500 pickup truck. He is replacing Arcee in the cast list. Even though Peter Cullen is cast as Prime, he will not be voicing Ironhide. Ironhide is one of Optimus' oldest friends, and has some cowboy characteristics, being the first in battle. Ironhide is 7.9m (26 feet) tall, and wields weapons on his arms. Ironhide's battle mode has a face plate.

Ratchet
Ratchet will appear as an emergency vehicle based on a Hummer H2 design. Ratchet's role in the movie is the familiar one of Autobot medic, and is 7.3m (24 feet) tall.  His robot mode lacks the head fins seen in the traditional animated version of the character. Ratchet wields a cannon and an axe.
